Modular layout from Italy

Hello everyone,
I'm building a modular layout. It will represents a German station in the era III. I started to build the modules from the "segmentdrhescheibe" part (right in picture) and now I've made 5 meters of the station.

I am not an expert on German stations and I wanted to show you two possible projects. According to your judgment which is the best solution?
You must consider that the station is an head station and the rail which is located at the bottom of the picture is a dead rail, but the station can be used also as a pass station, so trains can run on that rail and pass over.
From the left, buildings are: goods warehouse, station building and "lokshuppen".

Hi Antonio,

you designed a typical Situation for a small "country-station" :)

I would prefer the first idea, because you get longer tracks for little bit more place for trains!

What would you think about positioning the "Lokschuppen" at the left side using a further point and a dead rail?

Kind regards
Wolfram

Ciao Antonio,

der obere Entwurf ist für mich der bessere.
Die Gleislängen sind authentischer und somit sieht es gefälliger aus.
Halte uns bitte auf dem Laufenden.

Bis dann,
Burkhard

Wie ist es mit Gleisplan des 2. Entwurfes mit der Länge des 1. Entwurfes?

MfG,
Patrick

Hello,
I also prefer the first solution...in that case I can park 6-7m long trains.
The "Segmentdrehscheibe" module is 1040mm long (one meter wood board + two cnc headboards of 20mm thickness), long modules are 2040mm. Left module of first solution is abot 1300mm long.
So the first solution is 10,3m long, the second "only" 9m.
I'm using MSM tracks and the minimum radius for all curves and turnouts is 6000mm.

@ Wolfram - it si possible to move the "Lokshuppen" in the left using another turnout, but in that position I was thinking to place a little "Stellwerk" or a "Wasser Turm"...in case, what will you do with the old "Lokschuppen" trak near the station?

Hello everyone,
I did some changes to my layout plan, because I'm building a 23m turntable.
Here it is the new layout:

Using this railplan I can have a 23m turntable with a roundhouse and the possibility to connect other modules at the begin and at the end of the station.
In the next days I'll dismantle the segment turntable and will install the 23m turntable.
What do you think about this new configuration?

Ciao,

Out of the 3 tracks between the station entry turnouts and the turntable, one is a transition track so there are only two tracks for the station. The loco of a train which has arrived needs to shift to the other end of the train via turntable and free track.
So far, so good. Now there is a problem: If there already was a train in one station track when the second train arrived, shifting locos would be forced to use the transition track.
In reality this could be considered a safety issue.
Probably better to add a third station track without own platform just for the shift.
Kind regards
Matthias

Hello Matthias, thank you for your post.
My station is an head station, so I can park 2 trains and use the third track to make maneuvers...in case of particulars layouts, I can use the third track (normally a dead track) to get a pass by the station.
Today I had all the tracks to complete my layout, these are all turnouts that will be placed at the begin of the station:

I had also a rounded track for the turntable...here it is:

Soon I'll start to work on the station.

Hello everyone,
the turntable is in position and I did the prototype of the rail section that converge on the turntable.
Now I'm waiting to have sleepers similar to the other plastic sleepers and I'll make the definitive track section.
Here are two pictures:

Hello everyone,
here it is a little update:

I've also developed a new prototype of my turntable because on the first model there were little things to improve and I'm waiting the woods to install it on the layout. The old turntable will be removed and installed on a layout made by a friend of mine.

Hello,

I did all legs for the frames:

I can adjust the height from -15 to +15cm to the point 0.
I also moved the lokshop frame on one side and placed all warehouse tracke (on the left side).

Here a test for a main line frame:

And a little video:

Hi, Antonio,

that’s looking good. Also your video. Moving the steamloco with a Kö is a good theme. Superb.
